bob the cow is going to fly

Bob the Cow, is going to Fly
To see the sights from way up high
To leave the Earth and touch the sky
"That is what I'll do."

He doesn't care what people say
He likes to do things his own way
He plans to show them all one day
This dream will soon come true.

"I cannot wait to zoom and soar"
"To walk across a cloudy floor."
"And then return, again, for more."
"I'll fly around the Sun."

"I think I'll take a camera there"
"And take some pictures from the air"
"Get photos of ..Oh, Who-Knows-Where"
"It should be lots of fun."

But Phil the Goat just couldn't see,
"That cow can't even climb a tree."
"It's sheer impossibility."
"I don't know how he can."

And Norm the Pig, he liked Bob's dream,
To float, along, the earth's jet stream,
"But that, my friend, is too extreme."
And then there's Chicken Stan.

"Bob the Cow sure has some guts."
"He doesn't see the Ifs and Buts."
"Frankly though, I think he's nuts."
A Chicken knows these things.

"Birds can fly. They know the rules."
"They're given stuff. They have the tools."
"They spend their time in Flying Schools."
"And yes, they have those wings."

"But cows are way too big and fat."
"They have a tail. We all know that."
"And you can't wear a Cowboy Hat."
"That's not the way it goes."

"Who wouldn't like to be that free?"
"But stuff like that just cannot be."
"Need some proof? Just look at me."
Everybody knows

But Bob, he will not be denied,
Not the type to run and hide,
A confidence from deep inside,
"A cow's just got to try."

"Meet me here, tomorrow noon."
"Saturday, the fourth of June."
"Get some rest. It's coming soon."
"Come and watch me fly."

Then Bob went on his merry way
With nothing left to do or say,
Just look towards that fateful day
With not a hint of fear.

The animals all watched him go,
And journey to the barn below
And prepare himself for the show.
The time was drawing near.

The day did come, sun's early rise,
The crowd did grow, to quite the size
June the Fourth, the day Bob flies,
Too great to stay in bed.

And at exactly, ten till noon.
On Saturday, the fourth of June,
The weather, being opportune.
The Cow showed, like he said.

Bob arrived, he'd made it here,
His golden moment drawing near,
Without some sort of Flying Gear,
To help him with this ride.

He had no scarf, no goggles on,
No wings to help him glide upon,
A tiny box, stooped on the lawn,
His suitcase by his side.

The crowd grew hushed, they all stood still,
Bob the Cow, atop the Hill
No moving parts, at least until
His arms reached for the sky.

They did not move, they did not clap,
The arms of this ambitious chap,
Not even in a feeble flap,
He did not even try.

He just stayed still, much like a rock
No eyes towards the eager flock
The time ticked on, to twelve o'clock.
His arms still held the air.

Without a peep, without a nudge,
This cow as brown as chocolate fudge,
He didn't blink, he didn't budge,
Bob was frozen there.

Sense from this, they could not make,
The heads below, did start to shake,
Bob the Cow? A big fat fake?
Some had thought this for a while.

All concerned did start to wonder,
Had Bob goofed up, a major blunder?
Then suddenly, a sound like thunder,
The Cow now flashed a smile.

A noise it seemed, from way up high,
All eyes did gaze, towards the sky,
There was no what, nor where or why,
Just silence for the minute.

And Bob did laugh and take this in.
And hop and bop and skip and spin
A big fat Cow, a big fat grin
His hoof held something in it.

The sound it grew, much louder still,
All ears below, the sound did fill,
The happy Cow danced on the hill,
‘Twas really quite the sight.

"I said I'd fly, much like a bird."
"You shouldn't doubt, a Fat Cow's word"
"The secret's in that noise you heard."
"Here's my ticket, that's my flight!"

Bob the Cow, is going to Fly
To see the sights from way up high
To leave the Earth and touch the sky
Takes a big man to admit it

Bob the Cow, is going to Fly
To see the sights from way up high
To leave the Earth and touch the sky
He said it and he did it.
