waiting to shine
She likes to chase the rainbows
The colours feed her soul
So many dates with Alice, to
Explore that Rabbit hole
Her world is filled with Princes
Too many to decide
This Life, a big amusement park.
Intoxicating ride
She cloaks herself in happiness
The Boy she needs to feel
The Boy who often leaves too soon
How much of this is real?
Sunlight fills the emptiness
A friend, a foe; she’s learned
Long enough to share the warmth
But not enough to burn
She wants to be a hammer
But always plays the nail
A smile, so strong, to fill the world
Behind a concrete veil
But rainbows fade to humble grey
And Alice can’t pretend
And Princes sometimes ride no more
And parks find summer’s end
She wants to hope, She needs to dream
A soul, she yearns to fill
But where has that sweet dreamer gone?
Away, or hiding still?
And often there are rainy days
A cold so sharp it bites,
The darkness, like a blanket comes
To suffocate her nights
She stares into the distant void
So blurry, yet so clear
A haze she’s grown accustomed to
Camaraderie with fear
The Morning, it creeps closer still
That melancholy thing
A Postman with His secret Mail
What will Sunshine bring?
